YouTube Download Not Working? Fix Link & Audio Issues

Troubleshoot expired YouTube links, IP restrictions, silent MP4 files and unavailable formats. Find out when to refresh or use the desktop helper.

The source link expired

Source addresses are often temporary. The interface expires its download session after 90 seconds. Check the video again to request current information. A new link may still be unavailable if the source changed or removed the video.

The source returns forbidden or limits requests

Some sources require the viewer’s login, cookies, specific headers, region or the IP that originally requested the address. A server-generated link cannot universally preserve these conditions for a different device. Y2mate excludes detectable restrictions and temporarily pauses parsing when a source limits access. It does not offer proxies, account credentials or bypasses.

The video has no sound

A video-only format is explicitly labeled. It cannot acquire sound by changing its extension. Choose a combined format when available. Higher quality may require separate-stream assembly, which is outside this tool’s direct-file mode.

The browser plays the file instead of saving

An external source controls its response headers. Opening a video may display a player instead of a download prompt. Use the browser’s save option if offered. The site cannot force an external server to set a filename or allow downloading.

When to stop retrying

After one refresh, check whether the original video is public and playable. If the site reports a source limit, wait. Repeated requests can add load without making a restricted file accessible. Trying a different public video can distinguish a video-specific problem from a service outage.
